SRP’s ‘Touchdowns for Teachers’ Program Funds 104 Educators

I am a longtime Cardinals fan. I have applied for the SRP’s Touchdowns for Teachers grant since 2019 for my Kindergarten classroom. So many of us teachers use our own money for classroom projects and extra materials to keep kids engaged. I plan to use the grant for science projects and to buy books for my classroom library and books to send home with my students. Thank you, SRP and Arizona Cardinals for supporting Arizona education, the children and teachers.

WHAT:
As the Cardinals prepare for playoffs, it was a victorious regular season as far as Arizona teachers and students are concerned. For the third year, Salt River Project partnered with Cardinals Charities for the Touchdowns for Teachers program, which awarded grants to two deserving teachers every time the Cardinals scored a touchdown. This year, 104 lucky teachers won $500 for every touchdown scored by the Cardinals. In total, the Cardinals scored 52 touchdowns this season, which means 104 teachers won $500 each for a total of $52,000 in teacher grants. The highest yet, in the programs three-year history.

“I am so thankful that I won a $500 grant for my classroom,” said Tara Gleash, Lookout Mountain Elementary teacher in Phoenix’s Washington Elementary School District. “I am a longtime Cardinals fan. SRP is a leader and supporter of education in Arizona, providing $1.3 million in teacher resources and grants in 2021. From hands-on teacher workshops to grants for educators, SRP supports teachers as they innovate for the future and create classroom environments where everyone can succeed.

“Thank you SRP Touchdowns for Teachers for the generous $500 donation to my second grade classroom,” said Carrie Fox, educator with Tempe Schools. “I was able to purchase 20 headphones, 180 dry erase markers, 50 dry erase boards, 550 pencil top erasers, 96 pencils, 576 washable markers, 400 treasure box prizes and 20 scented markers.”
