WHERE WATER IS KING & SHADOW IS QUEEN

  • ARIZONA HISTORICAL SOCIETY kicks off Phoenix Mural Festival 2021 with its Virtual History Series. Author Mehmet Murat Ildan once wrote, “In the empire of desert, water is the king and shadow is the queen.” Since the early 1990s, Arizona and the Southwest have been plagued with a megadrought. If you’re curious about why Arizona seems detached from this reality, this conversation-with-the-experts will help you understand Arizona’s complex relationship with water, agriculture, growth, and landscape.

LOVE FIGHTS BACK + PAINT THE CITY + WORTH THE WEIGHT

  • RESHOEVN8R — 4524 N 7th Street >> It's an event within our event... It's gonna be a celebration of hip hop culture full of graff, dance, music, and food all weekend!

  • Our friend + Phoenix Hip Hop Historian, Bboy, Graffiti artist, co-founder of Furious Styles Crew (est. 1993) and ASU professor HOUSE brings together the elements of Hip Hop culture (Dance, music, aerosoul artists) to empower communities in our fight against racism and injustice through the eyes and hands of the LOVE FIGHTS BACK team.

  • Phoenix street art legend PABLO LUNA is creating a colorful mural to honor the Melrose District's community, the iconic 7th Avenue "Curve," and the area's unique history.

  • ARIZONA HISTORICAL SOCIETY'S Virtual History Series

  • Phoenix Mural Festival partners with Arizona artists to bring joy and imagination to our neighbors across the city. Join us on Wednesday, March 3 from 6:00 – 7:00pm for an engaging panel discussion with Phoenix Mural Project Director Danielle Foushée and festival artists. The 2021 Phx Mural Festival celebrates and explores the theme of sustainability. Learn how the festival got its start as a digital archive, its goals to preserve art and collect stories, and what inspires the artists and creators in Valley of the Sun.

WEEKEND 5: MARCH 6, 10am–3pm

GRAND FINALE PAINT PARTY & SOCIAL MEDIA CONTEST!

  •   INSTAGRAM CONTEST!!  

    • Visit the Grand Canal, tour all 68 new murals, and access special offerings at nearby shops + eateries on the map.

    • Use hashtag   #phxmuralfest21.  on Instagram to post the most selfies with Melrose murals and at shops and eateries on our Passport Map.

    • Our Grand Prize winner will receive a new GoPro Hero 8, courtesy of our community partner Our Urban Village.

    • Runners-up earn prizes like gift cards & swag from local businesses.
